Historical background

LORRAINE - VERDUN - NICOLAS BOUSMARD

(1576-1584)

Nicolas Bousmard, Bishop of Verdun from 1576 to 1584, was born in 1512 in Xivry-le-Franc (successor to Bishop Nicolas Psaulme, who died in Verdun on August 9, 1575). Jean Bousmard was Mayor of Circourt, then lawyer in the bailiwick of Saint-Mihiel, then private lieutenant, and for 14 years lieutenant general in the bailiwick of Apremont. He was knighted in 1564. His mother was Alix Collinet de la Malmaison, a family from Anjou settled in Lorraine and whose liege man was François Collinet de la Malmaison, whose nobility of his father, Jean Collinet de la Malmaison, was confirmed on March 10, 1455, see http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xivry-Circourt.
