LORRAINE - Duchy of Lorraine - RAOUL SAYS "THE VALIANT"

(1329-25/08/1346)

Raoul was born in 1320 from the union of the Duke Ferry IV and Elizabeth of Austria. Upon the death of his father in 1329, he is aged nineteen years and is under the regency of his mother until 1334. In 1337, open war broke out with the Count of Bar, Henri IV. King Philip VI of France put an end to this conflict. Ally the King of France, he fought the British by sending troops to the seat of Tournai. It also helped the King of Castile Alfonso XI fight Muslims of Granada and illustrations, November 3, 1340, at the Battle of Gibraltar. Back in France, he maintained are brother Charles de Blois during the War of Succession of Brittany. He was killed at the Battle of Crécy August 25, 1346.
