Flan un peu court et irrégulier. Le droit est assez net avec une tête identifiable. Le revers est orné d’une sorte de gangue crouteuse

Reverse description : Croix formée de quatre cantons ; besants à peine perceptibles dans les 1er, 2e et 4e cantons et une hache dans le 3e (?).

Commentary

Contrairement aux monnaies S. 287-288, la “hache” du droit n’est pas perceptible. Cette tête, avec ce gros menton, et ce revers orné de globules correspondent à la monnaie S. 289 qui est mal photographiée. Cette drachme est aussi une dégénérescence de la monnaie S. 287 vendue dans MONNAIES XXIII, n° 728.
Cet exemplaire, malgré une surface recouverte d’une sorte de gangue, présente un annelet dans le troisième canton !.
Unlike coins S. 287-288, the “axe” on the obverse is not visible. This head, with its large chin, and this reverse decorated with globules correspond to the coin S. 289, which is poorly photographed. This drachma is also a degeneration of the coin S. 287 sold in MONNAIES XXIII, no. 728. This example, despite a surface covered with a sort of matrix, has a ringlet in the third canton!
