Denier sur un flan court, mais avec un très beau visage très stylisé et un revers presque complet avec la légende en bord de flan. Métal légèrement granuleux avec des irisations de collection ancienne, au droit comme au revers

Obverse description : Tête casquée à gauche, très stylisée, avec un double grènetis devant le visage.

Reverse description : Cheval bridé et sanglé passant à gauche ; au-dessous, un delta reversé.

Commentary
Sur cette imitation, la tête est très stylisée et n’a plus rien à voir avec les traditionnels deniers KALETEDOY. Le revers est moins dégénéré et avec le delta renversé entre les jambes du cheval, le prototype de ce denier est très facilement identifiable.
Si les imitations des tétradrachmes de Thasos ont été très largement étudiées, il reste encore beaucoup à faire pour les monnaies celtiques de types connus et abondants, mais dont les graveurs se sont complètement ré-appropriés l'iconographie !.
On this imitation, the head is very stylized and has nothing to do with the traditional KALETEDOY denarii. The reverse is less degenerate and with the delta inverted between the horse's legs, the prototype of this denarius is very easily identifiable. If the imitations of the tetradrachms of Thasos have been very widely studied, there is still much to do for Celtic coins of known and abundant types, but whose engravers have completely re-appropriated the iconography!

GALLIA BELGICA - LINGONES (Area of Langres)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The territory of the Lingons was very vast, straddling the current department of Haute-Marne and part of the Côte d'Or, Yonne and Aube. Their capital was located in Langres. They were surrounded by the Sequani, the Mandubians, the Leuci, the Remes, the Suessions, the Senones and the Aedui. It was one of the largest civitas in Gaul. Langres, which has kept their name, seems to have been one of their oppida. Allies of the Romans, they did not take part in the War. The Helvetians, during their retreat after the defeat of Bibracte, crossed the Lingon territory. And in 52 BC, they did not send emissaries, did not join the revolt and did not participate in the relief army sent to Vercingetorix. On the other hand, in 51 before J. - C., they provided a contingent of cavalry to the Romans in order to fight the Bellovaques and the Belgians. They therefore remained faithful to the Roman alliance. They are quoted several times in Caesar's Commentaries. Caesar (BG. I, 26, 40; IV, 10; VI, 44; VII, 9, 63, 66; VIII, 11).
