Obverse description : Tête à droite, triple diadème remplis de chevrons, l'œil surmonté d'un sourcil et d'une esse.

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Reverse description : Cheval à droite, la tête retournée ; rameau au-dessus avec deux esses entourant le rameau et la tête du cheval ; rosace perlée et pointée sous le cheval et croix pointé et centrée devant son poitrail.

Commentary

Cet exemplaire semble avoir été frappé avec les mêmes coins que le n° 1311 de MONNAIE 36 et avec le même coin de revers que la monnaie du British Museum illustrée dans l’article de D. F. Allen “The Philippus in Switzerland and the Rhineland”, n° 95, également reprise pour illustrer le Traité de Simone Scheers, n° 261. Ce coin de revers R1 est commun aux monnaies n° 13 (BN. 8999) et 26 (coll. Roth n° 162) de l’inventaire de S. Scheers.
This example appears to have been struck with the same dies as No. 1311 of COIN 36 and with the same reverse die as the British Museum coin illustrated in DF Allen's article “The Philippus in Switzerland and the Rhineland”, No. 95, also used to illustrate Simone Scheers' Treatise, No. 261. This R1 reverse die is common to coins Nos. 13 (BN. 8999) and 26 (Roth collection No. 162) in S. Scheers' inventory
