Obverse description : Tête bandée à gauche, les cheveux indiqués par trois mèches, le cou par des petits traits.

Reverse

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Sanglier enseigne à gauche, l’oreille et le corps assez naturels, la queue en une sorte d’annelet ; une sorte de T entre les pattes.

Commentary

Ce type de revers manque à la série pourtant si représentative de MONNAIES XV. Ce symbole en forme de T très étiré entre les pattes du sanglier semble réellement très rare ! Poids particulièrement lourd.

The Leuques are mentioned only once in the Gallic Wars. Their neighbors were the Médiomatriques, the Lingons and the Séquanes. The Leuques as well as the Séquanes and the Lingones provided Caesar with wheat when the Roman army stopped at Vesontio (Besançon) to refuel before facing the Germans of Ariovistus (58 BC). Caesar (BG. I, 40).
