Commentary
example from the Franklin medalist which features a painting by Peter Paul Rubens; The Straw Hat: The direct gaze of the model, under the shadow of the hat, with the ring on her finger, suggests that the painting is a wedding or engagement portrait. It should be noted that Susanna Fourment married Arnold Lunden, an upholsterer and silk merchant from Antwerp, in 1622, and the portrait probably dates from this period. This painting is kept at the National Gallery in London, Great Britain. Medal sculpted by Neila Kun. Theoretically, the crab hallmark is supposed to indicate a fineness of 800 thousandths.
