Exemplaire sur un petit flan, légèrement décentré des deux côtés à l’usure importante, mais parfaitement identifiable et lisible. Beaux portraits, légèrement écrasés. Épaisse patine grise de collection ancienne avec des reflets mordorés

Commentary
Pour ce type, M. Crawford, a estimé un nombre de coins de droit inférieur à 30 et inférieur à 33 pour le revers pour deux variétés. Ce type est en fait beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. Pour les auteurs du CMDRR., nous avons cinq variétés différentes pour ce type de denier.

LEPIDUS AND OCTAVIAN
(43-36 BC)
Lépide (Marcus Æmilius Lepidus) is the son of the consul of 78 before J. - C. Consul with César in 46 before J. - C., he becomes the strong man after March 15, 44 before J. - C. He recovers the great pontificate (Pontifex Maximus) of Caesar and will be the last citizen to hold this title, with the exception of emperors. He immediately allies himself with Marc Antoine before forming with Octave the second triumvirate on November 27, 43 BC. The proscriptions follow, where Cicero loses his life. Lépide does not take part in the battle of Philippi in 42 before J. - C. and receives Africa after the interview of Brindes. After the fall of Sextus Pompey, he wants to seize Sicily. He is deposed by Octave who does not dare strip him of the great pontificate. He lived under house arrest until his death in 13 BC..
