Historical background

LANGUEDOC - VISCOUNTCY AND ARCHBISHOPRIC OF NARBONNE - AIMERI VI and GILLES AYCELINAT

(1290-1311)

Since 1215, the coinage was in pariage. Viscount Aimeri VI and Bishop Gilles (with E for Egidius) minted coins together in 1306. The archbishop places the key, his symbol, and the padlock is the viscount's weapon. The coin of Narbonne does not appear in the ordinance of 1315.
