Commentary

Selon le Dictionnaire de la noblesse de François-Alexandre Aubert de la Chesnaye des Bois, Badier, notre personnage est Philippe-Emmanuel De Crussol , né le 30 Avril 1686. D'abord Chevalier de Malte, puis Marquis de Saint-Sulpice , après la mort de son frère aîné , dont il obtint le Régiment au mois de juin 1701, étant entré quelques jours auparavant aux Mousquetaires, il quitta le service et se démit de son Régiment au mois de mars 1708. Il mouru à Paris le 12 août 1761, et avait épousé le 5 mai 1715 , Marie-Antoinette d'Estaing, morte à Paris le 3 avril 1771.

Le coin de revers a certainement été gravé pour le mariage mais ce jeton, daté de 1728, a certainement été frappé pour un autre motif familial que nous ignorons.
According to the Dictionary of the nobility of François-Alexandre Aubert de la Chesnaye des Bois, Badier, our character is Philippe-Emmanuel De Crussol, born on April 30, 1686.
