C’est la plus petite dénomination monétaire frappée pour l’empire Byzantin à Carthage. Il en fallait 7200 pour faire un solidus. Sur cet exemplaire, nous pensons plus au buste du Christ qu’à celui de l’empereur dans la représentation du droit.

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 after a co-regency from April 4 to August 1, 527. He reigned with Empress Theodora. The construction of Hagia Sophia was completed under his reign, which marks the height of the Byzantine conquests.
