Exemplaire sur un flan large et irrégulier, parfaitement centré avec les grènetis visibles. Beau portrait de Justinien Ier. Joli revers bien venu à la frappe, mais légèrement tréflé. Belle patine vert olive foncé

Obverse description : Buste casqué, diadémé et cuirassé de Justinien Ier de face avec pendilia, tenant de la main droite un globe crucigère et de la gauche un bouclier (N1'a) ; diadème perlé ; dans le champ à droite, une croix.

Poids léger. Le bouclier est orné d’un cavalier galopant à droite. Au revers, légère trace de double frappe.

Justinian I.

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 co-regency from April 4 to August 1 527. He reigned with the Empress Theodora. The construction of Hagia Sophia was completed during his reign marks the peak of the Byzantine conquests. Carthage and Africa and part of Numidia were reconquered from the Vandals with the general Belisarius. After a century of domination vandal, the Roman reigned again on the Mediterranean. Belisarius then attacked the Ostrogoths and took Rome on December 9 536. Theodora died in 545. Justinian still reigned twenty years. Childless, his nephew Justin II, who succeeded him.
