Exemplaire sur un flan très large, irrégulier, parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets. Très beau buste de Justinien Ier. Revers très légèrement tréflé. Belle patine marron

Obverse description : Buste casqué, diadémé et cuirassé de Justinien Ier de face avec pendilia, tenant de la main droite un globe crucigère et de la gauche un bouclier ; dans le champ à droite, une croix.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Iustinianus Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Justinien perpétuel auguste).

Commentary
Poids léger. Le bouclier est orné d’un cavalier galopant à droite. Notre exemplaire appartient à la série la plus lourde des folles frappée entre l’an 12 et l’an 15 (538/539 et 541/542).

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 after a co-regency from April 4 to August 1, 527. He reigned with Empress Theodora.
