Exemplaire sur un flan quadrangulaire et irrégulier à l’usure très importante. Joli revers. Patine noire, légèrement granuleuse

Obverse description : Buste diadémé, drapé et cuirassé de Justin Ier à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A’a) ; diadème perlé.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Iustinus Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Justin perpétuel auguste).

JUSTIN I

Justin I, illiterate of Macedonian origin, was a brilliant military leader under the reigns of Zeno and Anastasius. At the time of his accession, he was commander-in-chief of the "excubitores" (guards) of Constantinople. He succeeded Anastasius and associated his nephew Justinian with power, who became co-emperor on April 4, 527. Justin died on the following August 1.
