Historical background

JULIA SOAEMIAS

(+222)

Mother of Elagabalus, daughter of Julia Maesa, sister of Julia Mamaea - Augusta

Julia Soémias had received the title of augusta in 219. Her mother, Julia Maesa, did not hesitate for a second to sacrifice her with her grandson Elagabalus to keep the throne for the Severian family, imposing her second daughter Julia Mamée and his other grandson Alexander Severus, more controllable. Julia Soémias was murdered with her son Elagabalus on March 13, 222.
