La tête du lion est plus allongée avec la crinière bien visible. La langue de l’animal est visible.

IONIA - MILETUS

(6th - 5th century BC)

Miletus, founded in the 12th century BC, had been the seat of the Ionian Confederation. During the War of Liberation, it was crushed in 494 BC. Its cult of Apollo was renowned throughout Asia Minor. Its settlers founded, among others, the colonies of Abydos, Cyzicus, Sinope and Panticapaeum.
