Petit flan et frappe légèrement décentrée au droit, avec le griffon en bord de flan. Revers complet. Fine patine sombre et hétérogène

Commentary

Sa présence dans une collection de monnaies d’auriol laisse penser à une provenance locale, mais ce type à la tête de griffon semble correspondre au tetartemorion d’étalon phocaïque de Ionie (SNG Von Aulock: 7938. Rosen 603, SNG Cop Supp. 339). Une attribution liée au monnnayage archaïque de Téos, Ionie est envisageable.
Its presence in a collection of Auriol coins suggests a local provenance, but this type with the griffin head seems to correspond to the Phocaic stallion tetartemorion of Ionia (SNG Von Aulock: 7938. Rosen 603, SNG Cop Supp. 339). An attribution linked to the archaic coinage of Teos, Ionia is possible.
