Commentary
Louis-Basile de Bernage fut chargé successivement des intendances de Montauban, puis de Montpellier et Toulouse. En 1734, il fut appelé au conseil d'Etat. Par provisions du 3 décembre 1724, il avait été nommé secrétaire-greffier de l'ordre de Saint Louis, charge qu'il quitta en 1733. Les secrétaires-greffiers avaient le privilège de porter les insignes de grand'croix .

By provisions of December 3, 1724, he had been appointed secretary-clerk of the Order of Saint Louis, a position he left in 1733.
