Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et irrégulier, échancré à 6 heures au droit à l’usure très importante, lisible et identifiable. Patine vert foncé

Obverse legend : C VAI HOST M QVINTVS C.
Obverse description : Buste drapé et cuirassé, tête nue d’Hostilien à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A°2).
Obverse translation : “Caius Valens Hostilianus Messius Quintus Cæsar”, (Caius Valens Hostilien Messius Quintus césar).

Reverse


Reverse legend : PROVIN-CIA DACIA// AN V.
Reverse description : La Dacie debout à gauche, drapée, tenant une branche de laurier de la main droite et un sceptre transversal court ; de chaque côté, un aigle à gauche, un lion à droite.
Reverse translation : “Provincia Dacia/ anno quintum”, (Province de Dacie/ an cinquième).

Commentary


Poids extrêmement léger. L’aigle et le lion sont les épisèmes (mascottes) de ces légions comme pour l’atelier de Viminacium. Pour Hostilien, nous avons seulement des sesterces de l’an 5.
