Bel exemplaire complet, de frappe assez vigoureuse et centrée mais avec une surface hétérogène

Commentary
Si la légende BOLSKAN est entièrement lisible en caractères ibériques bien nets, ce type de flan en bronze n’est pas repris dans le VILLARONGA. Avec un poids trop faible pour une unité de bronze ce bronze correspondrait plus à un semis.
Mais type particulier, sans l’étoile derrière le cavalier et avec BON derrière la nuque, ce bronze semble inédit... aurait-il pu être frappé avec des coins de denier ?
Une autre orientation serait qu’il s’agit d’un denier fourré qui aurait perdu son argenture.
If the legend BOLSKAN is entirely legible in clear Iberian characters, this type of bronze flan is not included in the VILLARONGA. With a weight too low for a bronze unit, this bronze would correspond more to a semi-precious stone. But a particular type, without the star behind the rider and with BON behind the neck, this bronze seems unprecedented... could it have been struck with denarius dies? Another orientation would be that it is a filled denarius which has lost its silver plating

Bolskan corresponds to modern Huesca, the Osca of the Romans. The city played a big role in the provincial history after the Roman conquest, in particular at the time of the revolt of Sertorius, Roman general, born in Nursia c. 123 BC and died in Spain in 72 BC. J. -C. First lieutenant of Marius, he carved out a real state for himself in Spain. Winner of Pompey, he allied himself with Mithridates but was assassinated by his lieutenant Perpenna. A denarius of Domitius Calvinus was minted in Huesca in 39 BC, imitating and copying for the right the Celtiberian denarii.
