(108-107 BC) Marcus Herennius

In 107 BC, Marius put on the first of his seven consulates. Metellus succeeding in the war against Jugurtha, he seized Capsa. Belonging to the People's Party, he encouraged the commitment of volunteers and proletarians (proletarii) in the army. The second consul Lucius Cassius Longinus was beaten in Gaul by Tiguriens.
