Commentary
Bernard Duke of Espernon, and of Valletta, also Peer and Colonel of the Light Cavalry, and Governor of Guyenne, who was married twice, the first to Gabrielle legitimée of France, by whom he had children; the second to the elder sister of the Countess of Harcourt, of the House of Cambout. It seems that he was also governor of Burgundy. Note that the legend continues from the obverse to the reverse and the rarity of these portrait tokens, outside the direct royal family
