Exemplaire frappé sur un flan ovale et épais, bien centré des deux cotés. Magnifique portrait et revers de style fin. Patine grise. La monnaie a conservé une partie de son brillant de frappe

Obverse description : Buste radié, drapé et cuirassé de Gordien III à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A2).
Obverse translation : "Imperator Gordianus Pius Felix Augustus", (L’empereur Gordien pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse legend : ROMAE AETERNAE.
Reverse description : Rome, casquée, assise à gauche sur un bouclier les jambes croisées, tenant de la main droite une victoriola et de la gauche un sceptre.
Reverse translation : "Romæ Æternæ", (À Rome éternelle).

Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238. At the request of the people of Rome, he is chosen as Caesar by Balbin and Pupian and succeeds them after their assassinations.
