Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait inhabituel de Gallien. Revers peu courant. Très belle patine vert olive foncé, légèrement granuleuse

Reverse description : Temple tétrastyle de Tyché posé sur deux marches surmonté d’un fronton triangulaire orné d’un astre ; au centre, statue de la Tyché de Serdica, de face, coiffée du calathos, drapée, tenant un sceptre de la main gauche, un animal ou un sphinx à ses pieds.
Reverse legend : OULP-IAS SE-RDIK/HS (Olpias Serdikhs)

Commentary
Semble complètement inédit et non répertorié. Manque à tous les ouvrages consultés. Même coin de droit que l’exemplaire reproduit dans le Varbonov III, p. 279, n° 2649 (R/ les Trois Grâces). Au revers, dans le temple, nous pourrions avoir une représentation de la Tyché de la ville dans le temple.

Augustus
Gallien, the son of Valérien I, was born in 218. He was immediately associated by his father with power and was in charge of the West, while his father went to the East. He won a brilliant victory over the Germans and consolidated the Rheno-Danubian limes. After the capture of Valérien in the East, Gallien must face on all fronts. The empire breaks up. Gaul, Spain, Germania and Brittany secede with Postum who first eliminated Salonin, the son of Gallien. It is the usurpation of Macrianus and Quietus in the East. Gallien will spend the last eight years of his life trying to put the pieces of this empire back together. Finally, he was assassinated in September 268 under the walls of Milan while besieging Aureolus, the master of the Cavalry, who had revolted.
