Coments on the condition:
Monnaie frappée sur un flan irrégulier. Droit très bien centré et d'un très bel état avec un aspect très agréable du métal. Revers complet, avec la trace du bord du coin

Obverse


Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Tête à gauche, la chevelure faite de mèches épaisses, plus minces et bouletées sur le dessus ; oreille, cou orné d’un collier de perles ; deux dauphins devant la bouche.

Reverse


Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Croix bouletée, divisée en quatre cantons : besant aux 1er, 2e et 4e cantons ; une hache pleine triangulaire à gauche, avec le manche lisse et bouleté au sommet, au 3e canton.

Commentary


Selon G. Savès "ce type incontestablement est le dernier échelon dans la romanisation du type "cubiste" initial". La métrologie laisse plutôt à penser que cette monnaie est le prototype, encore classique et peu stylisé, des monnaies du groupe "cubiste". Malheureusement, les auteurs de Moneta 28 ont fait l'amalgame de toutes les monnaies avec ce revers, apparemment sans se soucier des droits ; leur répertoire est donc inutile ! L'oreille, telle qu'elle est traitée sur cette monnaie, sera reprise pour orner les cantons du revers sur d'autres séries.

This people who occupied most of the departments of Aude and Hérault is mentioned neither by Ptolemy, nor by Strabo, nor by Caesar. Their coinage is known to us only by the treasures of Béziers (Hérault) discovered in 1871 and which contained between 750 and 800 coins of Languedoc style as well as that of Moussan in the Aude, discovered in 1967 and which contained 28 drachmas of style " Languedocian".
