Historical background

FURIA

(63 BC)

In 63 BC, Cicero dons the consulship and defends Murena "pro Murena". Caesar is elected "Pontifex Maximus", (great pontiff). Octave, Caesar's grand-nephew, was born in Thurium. It is also the suppression of the conjuration of Catiline thanks to Cicero, "in Catilinam". Catiline will die the following year. Mithridates, king of Pontus, is assassinated or commits suicide after the betrayal of his son Pharnaces. Pontus becomes a Roman province. Pompey takes Jerusalem after a three-month siege.
