Commentary

La faute de frappe se trouve sur le rouleau et non sur la pièce. Une faute d’orthographe s’est glissé dans le nom du président devenu “Mitterand”. Une fois l’erreur découverte, la Monnaie de Paris a demandé un retour des rouleaux pour reconditionnement mais tous ne sont évidemment par repartis.
The typo is on the roll, not the coin. A spelling error crept into the president's name, which became \\\"Mitterand.\\\" Once the error was discovered, the Paris Mint requested the rolls be returned for reconditioning, but obviously not all of them were returned.
