Exemplaire sur un flan large et épais, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Très beau portrait de style fin. Revers à l’usure régulière, bien venu à la frappe. Patine verte granuleuse et écaillée

Commentary
Poids lourd. Sesterce frappé sur un flan de médaillon. Coiffure ornementée avec des filets de perles arrangés bien visibles sur cet exemplaire, les cheveux ramenés en arrière avec un petit chignon. Ce type semble beaucoup plus rare. Il est frappé juste après la mort de l’Augusta, au moment de sa déification.
Heavyweight. Sestertius struck on a medallion flan. Ornate hairstyle with arranged pearl threads clearly visible on this example, the hair pulled back in a small bun. This type seems much rarer. It was struck just after the death of the Augusta, at the time of her deification.

Consecration of Antoninus Pius
Faustina mother, daughter of Rupilia Faustina, Hadrian's sister-in-law, married Antoninus Pius between 110 and 115 and had at least two children: Marcus Galerius Antonius, a boy who died in infancy and young Faustina who married Marcus Aurelius. Faustina mother receives the title of augusta in 139 and is therefore associated with coinage. She died in 141, aged about forty. Antonin immediately had her deified and struck an important coinage of consecration, establishing the "Puellæ Faustinianæ" for young orphans or poor. Antoninus will raise the Temple of Faustina in the region of the Temple of Peace (Regio IV).
