Au milieu, une montagne; au ciel, à gauche, le soleil rayonnant; à droite, le croissant de la lune; à gauche du mont, Josué sous les traits d'un guerrier casqué, le regard et le bras droite levés vers le soleil; devant lui, la cavalerie allemande; à droite, Louis XIV regardant le croissant de la lune pour en arrêter le cours. Derrière le mont, on voit arriver l'armée française qui vient rejoindre son chef.

Commentary

Bataille de St Gothard contre les Turcs. Grâce au concours de 6000 soldats envoyés par Louis XIV et commandés par la Feuillade, les Allemands vainquirent les Turcs à la bataille de St Gothard (Hongrie) et obtinrent un semblant de paix conclue pour vingt ans avec Mahomet V, en septembre 1764.
Battle of St. Gothard against the Turks. Thanks to the help of 6,000 soldiers sent by Louis XIV and commanded by Feuillade, the Germans defeated the Turks at the Battle of St. Gothard (Hungary) and obtained a semblance of peace concluded for twenty years with Mahomet V, in September 1764.
