En 2009, l’US Mint commémore le bicentenaire de la naissance du Président Abraham Lincoln et le centenaire de la première émission du Cent Lincoln.
A cette occasion, une série de quatre monnaies sont frappées illustrant quatre périodes de la vie du président :
- naissance et enfance dans le Kentucky (1809-1816) : la cabane en rondin de bois de la famille Lincoln
- les années de formation dans l’Indiana (1816-1830) : Lincoln, le “rail splitter” étudiant pendant une pose
- les années professionnelles dans l’Illinois (1830-1861) : Lincoln devant le Capitole de l’état de l’Illinois à Springfield.
- la présidence à Washington, DC (1861-1865) : vue du dôme du Capitole en partie réalisé..
