Le grand incendie de Chicago est une catastrophe survenue du 8 au 10 octobre 1871. L'incendie a fait des centaines de victimes et détruit dans leur totalité de nombreux quartiers du centre de Chicago (Illinois). 300 personnes perdent la vie dans la tragédie et environ 100 000 personnes se retrouvent sans abris. Bien que l'incendie fût une des plus grandes catastrophes survenues au XIXe siècle aux États-Unis, la reconstruction qui commença immédiatement après permit à Chicago de mieux se développer d'un point de vue économique et de devenir une des villes les plus peuplées d'Amérique du Nord..
The Great Chicago Fire was a disaster that occurred from October 8 to 10, 1871. The fire claimed hundreds of lives and completely destroyed many neighborhoods in downtown Chicago, Illinois. 300 people lost their lives in the tragedy, and approximately 100,000 were left homeless.
