The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is a protected area on the southern shore of Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin. It is composed of a group of 21 islands known for its ancient lighthouses, sandstone caves, and old-growth forests. Established in 1970, the park is managed by the National Park Service.
