Historical background

ENGLAND - KINGDOM OF ENGLAND - HENRY VIII - POSTHUMOUS COINAGE

1547-1551

After the death of Henry VIII in 1547, English cash continued to be minted in the name and type of Henry VIII. Only the half-sovereigns bear the name of Edward VI from 1547. The coinage in the name of Edward VI does not really begin until January 1549.
