Obverse legend : (INSCRIPTION EN ARABE).

Obverse description : Buste rayonnant de trois quarts gauche d’un empereur timuride, probablement Abou Saïd, coiffé d’un turban duquel dépasse une palme dressée vers le haut ainsi que trois plus petites tombant à l’arrière, et vêtu d’une tenue d’apparat boutonnée jusqu’au col. Inscription circulaire en arabe mentionnant le nom de l’empereur.

Reverse description : Inscription en arabe en 4 lignes, mentionnant les dates et chiffres 855, 18 et 873 .

Commentary

Alliage probablement à base d’étain et de cuivre. Fabrication artisanale.
Abou Saïd Mirza, arrière-petit-fils de Tamerlan, est un empereur timuride (aussi orthographié timouride). Les dates inscrites au revers de la médaille, 855 et 873 dans le calendrier de l’Hégire, correspondent aux années de début et de fin de son règne, en 1451 et 1468.
