Très bel exemplaire, avec un revers complet et bien centré, mais un droit de frappe un peu molle ou issu d’un coin commençant à s’user. Agréable patine de médaillier

Historical background


ELUSATES (Area of the Gers)

(3rd-2nd century BC)

Small people of Aquitaine who occupied part of the current department of Gers, corresponding to the former county of Condomois (Comdom). Their capital was Elusa (Eauze, Gers). The Elusates were subjugated in 56 BC by Publius Licinius Crassus, lieutenant of Caesar, the son of Crassus who campaigned in Aquitaine. Sources: Caesar (BG. III, 27).
