Exemplaire lourd.
L'ancien collège de Clermont, rue Saint-Jacques, fondé par les Jésuites en 1561, prit le nom de Louis le Grand, en l'honneur de Louis XIV. En 1682, celui-ci accorde son patronage officiel et l'établissement devient le Collegium Ludovici Magni. Les Jésuites y enseignent jusqu'en avril 1762, date à laquelle les collèges de Jésuites du ressort du Parlement de Paris sont fermés. Parmi les anciens élèves, on relève entre autres les noms de Molière, Diderot, le marquis de Sade, Voltaire, Baudelaire, les peintres Delacroix ou Degas, Robespierre, Pompidou, Jacques Chirac, etc..
Heavy example. The former college of Clermont, rue Saint-Jacques, founded by the Jesuits in 1561, took the name of Louis the Great, in honor of Louis XIV. In 1682, the latter granted his official patronage and the establishment became the Collegium Ludovici Magni. The Jesuits taught there until April 1762, when the Jesuit colleges under the jurisdiction of the Parliament of Paris were closed. Former students include, among others, the names of Molière, Diderot, the Marquis de Sade, Voltaire, Baudelaire, the painters Delacroix and Degas, Robespierre, Pompidou, Jacques Chirac, etc.
