Historical background

DREUX - COUNTY OF DREUX - ROBERT II

(1184-1218)

The county of Dreux was given between 1132 and 1137 to Robert I, father of Robert II. Robert II was the nephew of Louis VII (1137-1180) and the cousin of Philippe II called "Auguste" (1180-1223). Robert I entrusted the county of Dreux to his son in 1184, four years before his death in 1188.
