Le ferry Kong Frederik IX a été construit aux chantiers navals d’Elsinore. Lros de sa mise en service le 16 décembre 1954, c’était le plus grand ferry du Monde. Il a été en service sur plusieurs trajets entre le Danemark, l’Allemagne et sur le Grand Belt.Il a été désarmé en 1997pour servir de musée à Nyborg. Enfin, il a été ferraillé en 2005.

It served on several routes between Denmark, Germany, and the Great Belt. It was decommissioned in 1997 to serve as a museum in Nyborg. Finally, it was scrapped in 2005.
