Commentary


Cette série est assez importante comme le faisait remarquer Oscar Ravel. Ce statère appartient à la troisième série de la cinquième période (R. 1008-1024). Trace de cassure de coin au droit, perceptible dans le champ sous les antérieurs du Pégase.

CORINTHIA - CORINTH

(350-306 BC)

Corinth was the unwitting victim of Macedonian hegemony over Asia from Alexander the Great because it then lost its strategic role. Ptolemy I occupied it from 308 to 306 BC, which marks the date of the end of the manufacture of "colts". It joined the Achaean league after 268 BC, but the city was razed by Lucius Memmius in 146 BC for opposing Rome.
