Exemplaire sur un flan bien centré avec les grènetis visibles. Beau portrait de Constance Ier Auguste. Génie bien venu à la frappe au revers. Patine gris foncé avec des reflets métalliques dorés. Conserve une partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Reverse legend : GENIO POPV-LI ROMANI/ S|F//PTR.
Reverse description : Genius (Le Génie du Peuple Romain) debout à gauche nu, tourelé, le manteau pendant sur l'épaule (himation), tenant de la main gauche une corne d'abondance et de la main droite une patère.
Reverse translation : “Genio Populi Romani”, (Au Génie du Peuple Romain).

Commentary


Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Cuirasse lisse. Épaulière cloutée. Ptéryges fines. Au revers, le Génie porte l’himation et non plus le manteau sur l’épaule.

Augustus

Constantius became Caesar on March 1, 293 at the same time as Galerius. Constance, who became august in 305, went to Brittany to fight the Picts. He died in York as Septimius Severus on July 25, 306. Constantine had had time to join him, despite Galerius' ban. Constantine struck an important coinage of consecration then restitution in his memory.
