Historical background

CONSTANTINE X DUCAS and Eudocia

(25/12/1059-21/05/1067)

Constantine X succeeded Isaac I Komnenos had been filed. Constantine's wife, Eudocia, is the niece of the Patriarch of Constantinople. Constantine faces a triple threat: the Normans in Sicily, Uzes (Turkish tribe) in the Balkans and the Seljuks in Asia Minor. At his death, it was his wife who succeeded him, ensuring the regency for her son Michael VII and Constantine. The Empire is facing a serious crisis.
