Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Frappe molle et fruste au droit. Joli revers. Patine vert foncé

Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Constantin II césar à gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant, tenant un foudre de la main droite et un globe de la main gauche, un sceptre à l’extrémité bouletée reposant sur l’épaule (B*17).
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Flavius Claudius Constantinus Nobilissimus Cæsar”, (Notre seigneur Flavien Claude Constantin très noble césar).

Reverse description : Porte de camp surmontée de trois tourelles ; au milieu, une étoile.

Commentary


Six rangs verticaux de pierres au revers. Variante particulière avec deux globules superposés dans le champ à droite. Semble complètement inédit pour la quatrième officine(recensé seulement pour la première et la cinquième).

Caesar (1/03/317-9/09/337)

Born in February 317 according to the most recent timeline, the young Constantine received on coins the title of Caesar as his half-brother and his cousin Licinius Crispus and the title of prince of youth. Constantine II was the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" the empire with his brother Constans subjection, Constantius II with the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantine and Constans quarreled. The eldest was eliminated in April 340.
