Exemplaire sur un flan bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait de Constantin II avec un beau buste consulaire. Joli revers à l’usure superficielle. Belle patine marron foncé

Reverse description : Globe posé sur un autel surmonté de trois étoiles.
Reverse translation : “Beata Tranquillitas/ Votis vicennalibus”, (L'heureuse tranquillité/ Vœux pour le vingtième anniversaire de règne).

Commentary


Poids léger. Manteau consulaire richement ornementé avec la toga picta et la toga palmata. Rubans de type 3. Au revers, la décoration du globe terrestre n’est pas visible.

Caesar

Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
