Magnifique exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle sur un flan ovale, bien centrés des deux côtés. Très beau portrait de Constantin II. Revers finement détaillé. Jolie patine marron foncé avec des reflets métalliques. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Constantin II à gauche vu de trois quarts en avant (A*1).

Reverse description : Porte de camp surmontée de deux tourelles ; au milieu, une étoile.

Avec son argenture superficielle. Rubans de type 3. Ptéryges fines sous le paludamentum. Neuf rangs verticaux de pierres au revers.

Caesar
Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
