Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnaie. Buste de Constantin II de toute beauté. Revers finement détaillé. Très belle patine vert clair. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Obverse description : Buste lauré et cuirassé de Constantin II césar à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (B*).

Reverse description : Deux soldats debout face à face, vêtus militairement, tenant chacun une haste renversée ; au milieu deux enseignes militaires.

Caesar
Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
