Exemplaire sur un petit flan épais, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets. Très beau portrait de style fin avec une frappe vigoureuse. Épigraphie élégante. Revers de style fin, bien venu à la frappe. Magnifique patine marron foncé avec des reflets métalliques bleutés. Conserve une partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Reverse description : Deux Victoires debout, face à face, posant un bouclier sur un cippe ornementé d’une étoile à huit rais.
Reverse translation : “Victoriæ Lætæ Principium Perpetuæ/ Vota Populi Romani”, (À la victoire heureuse et durable du prince/ Vœux du peuple romain).

Un seul ruban visible. Casque lisse. Cuirasse et épaulière cloutées. Ptéryges fines. Variété avec l’étoile à huit rais sur l’autel. L’émission avec le type VICTORIAE LAETAE n’est pas repris dans l’ouvrage de Schulten.

Augustus
Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
