Exemplaire sur un bien centré des deux côtés à l’usure superficielle avec le coin légèrement bouché au droit. Joli revers. Patine gris foncé avec les reflets métalliques dorés

Obverse legend : CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES.

Obverse description : Buste lauré, casqué et cuirassé de Constance Ier césar à gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant avec un sceptre sur l’épaule droite (D*2).

Obverse translation : “Constantius Nobilissimus Cæsar”, (Constance très noble césar).

Reverse legend : GENIO POPV-LI ROMANI/ (AUTEL)|A// PLG.

Reverse description : Genius (Génie) debout à gauche, coiffé du modius, le manteau sur l'épaule gauche, tenant une patère de la main droite et une corne d'abondance de la main gauche.

Reverse translation : “Genio Populi Romani”, (Au Génie du Peuple romain).

Commentary

Poids léger. Avec l’intégralité de son argneture superficielle. Rubans du type 3. Casque richement décoré ainsi que la visière et le couvre nuque. Notre follis est très proche l’exemplaire du trésor de Lignières n° 203, Bastien n° 158a, pl. XVI. C’est le deuxième exemplaire signalé avec ce type de césure. Prendra le n° 158e dans le Supplément III du Bastien.
Lightweight. With its surface caesura intact. Ribbons of type 3. Helmet richly decorated as well as the visor and the neck cover. Our follis is very close to the example in the Lignières treasure no. 203, Bastien no. 158a, pl. XVI. This is the second example reported with this type of caesura.
