Comtat-VENAISSIN - Gregory XI (Pierre Roger de Beaufort)

(30/12/1370-26/03/1378)

Born in Limoges in 1329, Gregory was the last French pope was the nephew of Pope Clement VI. Elected pope Dec. 30, 1370, he was consecrated January 5, 1371. His pontificate was dedicated in part to bring France, England, Spain and Naples. He died in Rome March 26, 1378 and Pope Urban VI succeeded him.
