Dresser was born in the purple 31 August 161. Son of Marcus Aurelius and Faustina young, his twin brother died very early, 165 or 166. He received the title of Caesar that date but it is actually associated with power at the time of the revolt of Avidius Cassius in 175, after the death of Faustina Young Cappadocia. For the first time since Nerva, the emperor does not choose his successor by adoption, but raises its own offspring to Augustat. Convenient, associated with the Empire from 176 to 177, successor to his father in 180.
