Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire sur un flan petit ovale et échancré, court sur les légendes. Très beau portrait de Commode de style fin. Usure plus marquée au revers. Jolie patine grise avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Tête laurée de Commode à droite (O*).
Obverse translation : “Lucius Ælius Aurelius Commodus Augustus Pius Felix”, (Lucius Ælius Commode auguste, pieux heureux).

Reverse legend : HERCVLI R-OMANO AVG.
Reverse description : Hercule, nu debout à gauche, la léonté entourée autour de la massue, couronnant un trophée placé à gauche.
Reverse translation : “Herculi Romano Augusti”, (À l'Hercule romain auguste).

Poids léger. Semble plus rare que ne le laissent paraître les ouvrages généraux.

Commodus succeeded his father Marc Aurèle, who died in Vienna on March 17, 180. He hastened to conclude a truce with the Germanic tribes and then abandoned public life. The Empire was successively governed by the prefects of the Praetorium, Perennis from 182 to 185, Cléandre from 185 to 190, who were both assassinated. Commodus suffocated on the night of December 31, 192.
